Teaching: overview

We run a Special Study Unit on CAM familiarisation for third year medical students and chiropractic students from the Anglo European College of Chiropractic to give them a brief introduction to complementary and alternative therapies. This course includes a visit to the AECC to gain insight into their teaching and observation of consultations.  Our undergraduate teaching programme has acted as a template for teaching evidence-based CAM and integrated medicine in multi-professional environment both in the United Kingdom, for all UK medical schools and internationally. The general medical council now recommends such courses be part of undergraduate medical education.

Lectures on acupuncture and pain are also given for the School of Medicine Foundation Course and Term 4 teaching.

We supervise fourth year students projects on CAM, details of these projects can be found here: http://www.cam-research-group.co.uk/cam_research_medstudents.php
We also run an annual research strategy conference in conjunction with the Research Council for Complementary Medicine.
